Check the exterior of your residence
Bring in mail, look for storm/wind damage, or signs of rodent/insect damage or infestation. Check exterior doors and windows for evidence of tampering, as well as outbuildings or pools.
Room-by-room evaluation
Check each room for water damage due to pipes freezing or storm damage. Check that thermostats are set to client specifications. Look for signs of rodent and/or insect infestation. Run all water faucets and flush toilets. Secure all doors and activate the alarm system.
